Austep has developed and patented an innovative treatment system for excess biological sludge and biomasses.

Thickened sludge undergoes high pH bio-chemical hydrolysis at controlled temperatures. Cell lysis transforms solid organic substances into soluble COD.
The mixture is then separated by filtering: the liquid phase is sent to the head of the plant, after recovery of any alkalinising agent, and the mineralised organic part, with 10% of its initial SSVs, is disposed of.

Advantages

Disposal cost significantly reduced

Compact and modular plant

Easy to operate, thanks to automation

Stabilised sludge emitting no odour and easy to dehydrate

Sludge sterilization

Rapid investment recovery

Applications

All aerobic WWTP

Biomasses and primary sludge

Civil WWTP with capacity > 50 000 A.E.

Industrial WWTP with capacity > 2.000 Kg/d COD

Synergic effect with anaerobic WWTP
