Austep has developed and patented an innovative treatment system for excess biological sludge and biomasses.
Thickened sludge undergoes high pH bio-chemical hydrolysis at controlled temperatures. Cell lysis transforms solid organic substances into soluble COD.
The mixture is then separated by filtering: the liquid phase is sent to the head of the plant, after recovery of any alkalinising agent, and the mineralised organic part, with 10% of its initial SSVs, is disposed of.
